ISLANDS: SHELTERS

Sculptural work composed of six "islands" of varying-sized cast glass mounted on a mirrored base measuring 60cm x 70cm. This small-scale piece, developed as a maquette for a potential future project executed on a larger scale, aims primarily to engage the viewer in a visual play with the reflection of each piece's volume on the mirror surface and the empty spaces created within and around them. Additionally, the reflection of the surrounding environment further enhances this visual interplay, alluding to the possibility of perceiving a parallel virtual space solely through sight. If realized on a larger scale, the piece would become a walkable space with a series of "shelters" where one encounters only their own reflection within these volumes, while outside of them, one encounters the environment, simultaneously magnified in this reflection of a parallel virtual space.
